The UT-City CoLab recently hosted its Spring 2026 CoLab Workshop, bringing together collaborators from The University of Texas at Austin and the City of Austin for a day of collaboration, discussion, and shared learning.

The workshop provided an opportunity for researchers, city staff, and project partners to strengthen connections between academic research and the City’s evolving needs. Throughout the day, attendees shared updates on ongoing CoLab projects, discussed emerging challenges facing Austin, and explored new opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration. These conversations help ensure that research is not only scientifically rigorous but also practical, actionable, and responsive to the needs of the community.

One of the defining strengths of the UT-City CoLab is its ability to bring together expertise from across disciplines to tackle complex urban challenges. By creating regular opportunities for researchers and city partners to exchange ideas, the CoLab helps accelerate the translation of research into tools, resources, and strategies that support more informed decision-making.

We’re grateful to everyone who presented, facilitated discussions, and contributed their perspectives throughout the workshop. We look forward to continuing this collaborative work and turning today’s conversations into tomorrow’s solutions for a more resilient Austin.
