Growing Green
How do other cities fund and maintain small-scale green infrastructure projects over time, and what models can be developed to enhance these approaches in Austin?
This research will explore how cities fund and maintain small-scale green infrastructure projects (such as rain gardens, bioswales, and permeable pavements) and how those models can be improved or scale for the purposes of the city of Austin. This research will help support departments such as Watershed Protection, Public Works, and the Office of Sustainability, which are tasked with expanding green infrastructure to meet climate resilience goals. By investigating successful models in different cities and assessing their applicability to Austin, this research will offer actionable recommendations to city staff on creating sustainable changes.
